Having a baby means having lots of stains, not only on baby’s clothes but your clothes too! Hard chemical detergents and bleach are bad for your baby’s skin (it’s bad for our skin too, but it could give baby a rash) so how do we get them out? I’ve learned a simple, easy method that has worked for me on any stain!
Poop, spit up, and baby food stains are the worst on clothes and diapers! To start the process of getting rid of these stains, put all soiled laundry in a separate pile. Do this load separately from the rest of baby’s clothes. I always do a quick rinse cycle first. Then I wash on Hot with baby detergent. DO NOT DRY IN THE DRIER. That makes the stains a lot harder to get out, although I have still saved many outfits that snuck their way into the drier with this method.
Take directly from the wash to sunlight. I have a clothes drying rack in our backyard and I hang the clothes with the stains directly facing the sun. I do this for a couple hours and the stains VANISH. Sun bleaching is the most amazing way to get rid of stains!
Fortunately, I live where it’s always warm and the sun is always shining- Phoenix, AZ! But if you’re in an area where hanging wet clothes outside in the winter isn’t an option, you can always stick them on hangers and put them up in windows! All they need is direct sunlight, it doesn’t matter if it’s inside or out!
Beat that pesky stains! 🙂

I rinsed, then washed in hot water with BumGenius baby detergent, then hung on a clothesline outside for two hours. These were the results:
